Kiichiro Iwai, the name sake for this Mars Whisky, was a silent pioneer of Japan whisky. This whisky is inspired by great whiskies of America. A majority of corn balanced with light malt aged in ex bourbon barrels. Ideal for daily sipping, in a mint julep or an old fashioned.

The name Iwai comes from Mr. Iwai who was an advisor of Hombo Shuzo since 1945. He helped Hombo Shuzo to get whisky license in 1949. We showed our respect and name our whisky Iwai.
Another fact is that Mr. Iwai was the one who sent Taketsuru to Scotland. Taketsuru is the first guy who went to Scotland to learn whisky making in 1918.
Founded in 1872. We have over 100 years experience in spirits industry. Started from Japanese local spirits shochu, then wine and whisky. Even though we have a long history, we will never stop experimenting.
